For all water activities
The most important function of a women’s wetsuit is to keep your body warm. You wear a ladies wetsuit closely around your body, so that a thin layer of water comes between your skin and the suit. This layer is warmed by your body heat. Thanks to these good insulating properties, you can continue to do all your water activities all year round. From surfing and swimming, to supping and diving.
Ladies short wetsuit and womens long wetsuit
Wetsuits come in different types. A full suit covers your entire body and is made with a thinner layer of neoprene. These types of wetsuits are suitable for medium water temperatures. The name says it all, a short wetsuit is a lot shorter. Only the upper body and the upper parts of the arms and legs are covered. These types of wetsuits are suitable for warmer temperatures. In addition, there are several others, depending on the activity and water temperature. For example, a womens winter wetsuit for cold water or a short wetsuit for women. Discover all our women’s wetsuits and choose which one is most suitable for you.
At O’Neill you can find a wide range of women’s wetsuits in various sizes. From an XS wetsuit to XL. Do you want to make sure you choose the right size? View our handy ladies wetsuit size chart and discover your size. This also includes all other surf clothing and accessories. The wetsuits are available in thicknesses from 1 mm to 6mm. The thicker the neoprene, the warmer the wetsuit. Which thickness you need depends on the water temperature. You can find the temperature of your surf spot online. The thickness of a wetsuit is expressed in two numbers. For example 3/2mm. The number in front of the ‘/’ means the thickness of the neoprene on the back and stomach to keep you warm. The 2nd digit represents the number of mm on the arms and legs for optimal freedom of movement. In the overview below, you can see exactly which thickness fits which water temperature.
- Between 7 and 12°C: 5/4 mm wetsuits (suitable for a steamer, womens winter wetsuit)
- Between 12 and 17°C: 4/3 mm wetsuits
- Between 17 and 22°C: 3/2 wetsuits or 2/2 mm wetsuits
- Between 20 and 25°C: a full wetsuit is not necessary, a shorty wetsuit is sufficient
